Course Description

This course is the second part of the required research methods sequence for history majors. Students will learn how historians conduct research and communicate their findings through multiple formats. It will give students an opportunity to practice the essential skills of historians as they undertake the research and writing of a primary source-based history research paper and its related projects. Building on the skills developed in HIST 297, this course is designed to prepare students for upper-division history courses. We will discuss the intellectual issues that face the discipline and learn the critical ideas behind the creation of historical work.
